Doha, Nov. 11th, 2008 - During Ramadan 1429 A.H., Qatar Charity carried out Iftaar (fast breaking) project in 19 countries outside the State of Qatar. Around 235159 families benefitted from this project which was carried out in the most needful countries. The Charity applied the most developed mechanisms and quality services. The total cost amounted to Q.R. 4.628.426.
The project demonstrated a noticeable increase (Q.R. 800.000) over the previous year. The increase rate of expenditures on this project reached 90% compared with Q.R. 2.600.000 of the year 2006.
The project included different kinds of food stuff such as fast food meals, foodstuffs basket and Iftaar banquets.
Priority was given to Palestine due to the unjust siege. So, the Charity allotted Q.R.1.110.000 to carry out this project via its office in Gaza in association with the office of al-Khaleel. Some 7000 families benefited from this project. In Iraq, which passes in difficult humanitarian situations, the sum of Q.R. 600.000 was spent on this project. In Sudan, the sum of Q.R.350.000 was spent on Iftaar project for 23347 families. At the same time, around 53770 Indonesian families benefited from the project at a cost of Q.R. 280.000. In Pakistan, some 31500 families benefitted from the project at a cost of Q.R. 220.000.
The Charity also appropriated Q.R. 220.000 to 15984 families in Niger. Around 15955 Yemeni families benefited from the project. Some 29000 families benefited from the project in Bangladesh. The project was also carried out in Lebanon, Somalia, Mali, Chad, Morocco and Burkina Faso.
Qatar Charity expressed its thanks to benefactors in Qatar for their valuable contributions. In truth, they faithfully contributed for the sake of Allah in order to make the project successful, praying to Allah, The Exalted, to plentifully reward them on the Day of Judgment.
